Tourette
Syndrome Research
For
the past two years we
have been studying unmedicated
children ages 7-13
with Tourette Syndrome (TS) at the Center for Mind and
Brain
and Imaging
Research Center at UC Davis while they perform our Finding Nemo game in
the MRI
scanner. This game is relatively easy and has been designed
to
test the aspects of cognitive control that we are most interested in.
The scans we run are both anatomical (looking at brain
structure)
and functional (looking at brain activity). We have recently
analyzed and published the first paper from this batch of
data. The results have proven to be very interesting and have
encouraged us to continue collecting data. We hope to shed more light on
the causes and neural workings of TS, as well as start looking into
therapeutic methods.
